Pixel Busters

I created a promotional documentary for a company called Pixel Busters in Stoke on Trent. Whilst doing so, I also designed multiple different marketing materials and graphics for them.

This postcard is a general marketing post that could be used both in promotion of my film and also in promotion of their venue. Using their iconic blue and yellow colours, alongside a pixel font, I tried to keep to the aesthetic of the business the best I could. The slogan is catchy, and the owners have described their arcade as "stepping back in time".

This second postcard (including their logo) is more exclusively for their social media, naming the price for a day at the arcade and mentioning that they have retro consoles. The Dreamcast and the character 'Tails' from 'Sonic the Hedgehog' is noticeable for gamers, and those who are less into games yet played them as a child. This therefore targets a wide audience.

The logo and pixel text at the top remains the same, alongside the location as this post is aimed for their social media to draw in customers. The owners told me that often some of the older or less gaming-inclined customers get tired of the arcade and like to sit down at the cinema. I felt like this needed advertising, to allow those people to see they would still enjoy this venue.

As social media is such an important aspect of modern marketing, it seemed correct to create a square post, suited towards apps such as Instagram. The font remains the same although I decided to add effects 'Outer Glow' and 'Drop Shadow' to create a glow, almost like an arcade machines' screen. This post also has the full address of the venue, to allow newcomers to see exactly where it is. With this post (and the other marketing material), I ensured to make everything proportional and symmetrical using Rulers on Photoshop.

I created a poster for my promotional documentary I made for Pixel Busters. This was used for University for the screenings of the films and for GradX (where industry professionals reviewed our work). The font and colour palette have remained the same, but the picture this time depicts someone playing the machine. The reflection of LEDs can be shown on the machine which creates a somewhat 80s/90s aesthetic that fits well with the theme of the venue.

Finally, this is a postcard I made specifically for my documentary. This photo, alongside the others, was edited in Photoshop to make it brighter and more saturated.
